Everyone who races at Borrowdale Park dreams of winning one, if not all, of what we know as the Big Three – and the last of those, the $55 000 Republic Cup over 1900m is on Saturday.
Raffles won the first, the 2000m Castle Tankard, beating Majestic Warrior who was receiving 6 kgs by 3 lengths. This Saturday Majestic Warrior will receive 7.5 kgs from Raffles. On Tankard Day Wantage, Ideal View and Holy Land were not far behind him.
Triple Crown Winner Buster Barnes won the 1800m OK Grand Challenge on the 8th of June, beating Raffles by two lengths when receiving 10 kgs, and then came Raining Again, Ideal View and Citrusdal. This time Buster Barnes will receive 5.5 kgs from Raffles and Jet Mirage, both of whom will carry 61 kgs.
Most of the main players in the first two of the 2024 Big Three step out again on Saturday – plus recent winner Abayyaan, Admirals Chance, Tradition and Jaegar Moon. This is a race everyone would like to win and over 1900m weight will count. Of course, there is a turnaround in most of the weights that should be considered, but I hate arithmetic (and never progressed to Maths). There is plenty of time for all serious punters to consult Formgrids https://www.formgrids.info/ Good luck with that.
The first race on Saturday is off at 12:00, and this is the last call for lunches. If you need to eat, please contact 0712400753 NOW.
And by the way, Captive Moon is a runner in Race 4 ,an 1800m MR 87 Handicap, with Morgen Nyamagwete riding.
