So near and yet so far. Print The Pounds won the Zimbabwe Guineas, first leg of the Triple Crown, but Picalilly stole the limelight. The Gharir filly came with her characteristic late challenge from way back, and almost pulled it off. The official winning distance was 0.25 lengths. The A P Answer filly, Print The Pounds, is trained by Bridget Stidolph and was ridden by Derreck David. She was bred by Clifton Stud and runs in the colours of the Sunmark Syndicate. This was Print The Pounds’ fourth consecutive win. Last time out she finished ahead of Picalilly in the Fillies Classic.

Picalilly is owned and was bred in Zimbabwe by Sarah Lumsden. She is trained by Gee Racing, who also sent out the Soar With Eagles gelding, Zita, who finished third. Apart from Zita the fillies had the upper hand as Eversolucky, from the Gokhan Terzi stable, was fourth.
