Peggson, a four-year-old gelding by Jay Peg, won the RTGS 100 000 Castle Tankard (GR1) run over 2000m at Borrowdale Park this afternoon.

Rank outsider Leven Point was second, then came Fareeq and Arte. It will take a while for most punters to get their minds around that result.

The winner is owned by Messrs A Ackhurst, G de Jong, G M Littleford, S H Murray, A P Nydam, P C Rugg, S W Shutt, S N Buchan and N Evans. Peggson is trained by Bridget Stidolph, who has saddled the Tankard winner two years in succession. Brendon McNaughton was the winning jockey and Peggson was bred by Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud.
