Eurakilon, a son of Classic Flag, registered his first win in Zimbabwe in the 2000m Breeders Champion Cup (L) at Borrowdale Park on Sunday.
Trained by Gokhan Terzi and with Lance Pagel in the irons, the six-year-old gelding beat his rival, Print The Pounds, by a length, with stable mate Rock The Country, third, and the Penny Fisher-trained Tallie Two, fourth.
Now a six-time winner, Eurakilon is owned by Gengiz Goksel, Grant Littleford, Spencer Murray and Paul Rugg.
ON TRACK FOR TRIPLE TIARA
After her victories in the Fillies Classic and Sunday’s TBA Silver Slipper, the AP Answer (USA) filly, Duffi’s Call, is on track to take the Triple Tiara if she can also collect the 2000m Zimbabwe Oaks.
Owned by the Sunmark Racing Syndicate and trained by Bridget Stidolph, Duffi’s Call, with Brendon McNaughton up, left the field for dead shortly after turning into the home straight. Pacifica was chasing but it was over bar the shouting – winning margin 5 lengths.
Betula Uber and Ladies First ran third and fourth.
