There was no need to worry .. Mathematician stayed. The son of Black Minnaloushe (USA), trained by Bridget Stidolph and with Brendon McNaughton in the irons, won the 2400m Zimbabwe Derby at Borrowdale Park on Sunday in fine style.
Mathematician dominated throughout and finished four lengths clear of Betula Uber, always chasing, with Super Good and Finlay filling the other places.
Owned by Newbury Racing, this was the three-year-old gelding’s third win at Borrowdale. He was previously trained by Justin Snaith and was bred by Adv. A.P. Joubert.
